About the Doctor:
Kevin Kim is Dentist and Owner of NuYu Dental.
I am board-certified Doctor of Dental Surgery who specializes in creating smiles, enhanced by a healthier new you. I perform all aspects of comprehensive dentistry and I have a special interest in the field of cosmetics where smiles are transformed into greater confidence and well-being.
Our number one priority is our guests and our number one goal is making sure our guests are comfortable and relaxed, while providing exceptional dentistry. At NuYu, we do not focus just on “fixing teeth,” but making dentistry an inspiring & inviting experience: for example, we like to pamper our guests with our refreshment bar (lemon water, gourmet coffees, organic teas), the convenience of an internet bar & provide pillows, wireless headphones and flat screen TV’s customized for each guest’s visit.
Why are you excited for 2012 Fittest Doctor Competition?
In my dental practice I promote health & personal growth. This competition is a great avenue to inspire others that fitness is a lifestyle.
What is your strategy for staying fit with your demanding schedule?
Working out every day is not a “should”, but a “MUST”. Pushing myself to do those extra few reps helps strengthen my mental muscles. Because I am always striving for more, this enables me to have the strength and energy my daily life requires.
What is your current favorite workout to do and why?
Definitely my core workout days. These are days where I strengthen my foundation so that I can grow even more. I like to change my core workout regimen so that my body is always being challenged. Challenge the muscles equal challenge the mind.
What is your favorite gym, studio, or fitness class in Austin?
Why is being a fit doctor important to you?
A strong foundation of health is the platform from which health care providers can lead by example. I believe that in order to contribute effectively we must first be able to have the energy and passion so that we can inspire others to be their best.
What is your largest fitness accomplishment in the past year?
Juggling between opening a start-up dental practice and working out on a more consistent basis has lead me to a state of being the most fit I’ve ever been mentally and physically.
Give one piece of advice to others looking to get fit and healthy as a busy professional.
WRITE down your daily and long term outcomes (not just think it) and focus on the absolute important ones while not sweating the small stuff.
